We needed work done on our daughter’s car while she was away at school. Since we live out of town, we were looking for a trustworthy and fairly priced repair shop we could rely on. The team at Bockman’s (especially Tobias) was amazing and incredibly helpful. They provided pricing promptly, got her car in right away, and worked with me on the repair process. I was very happy with the entire experience and would highly recommend Bockman’s to any parent whose kid attends NIU and has a car on campus.

I've been going to Bockman's ever since Sam helped me at a gas station and had me go to the shop to get a tire patched and back on the road in 2013. Ever since they've been nothing but honest and have provided the best service of any shops that I've ever been to. They've taken care of 8 of my family's cars over the years. I had never been to Bockman’s before until the other day. I had gotten a flat tire and needed to get it fixed so I looked up tire places near me and Bockman’s had great reviews so I booked an appointment online which was super easy and convenient. I was able to get in 2 days after I got the flat. They called me day of my appointment to see if I could come in a few hours early which I did and they had me in and out within an hour. They were able to patch my tire which was awesome, no need to buy a new tire. The staff was also very nice and friendly! I would definitely go back to Bockman’s!

I am embarrassed I referred this person to them I little while back i had a repair done. I assumed my technician wasnt seasoned and appreciated their professionalism, resolution and communication, so i referred people Boy, was that image nuked out of the water I know this person having clear electrical issues. I tell them to take it in. Bockmans shows us mice damage under the wheel well engine block area, they fix it and we pick it up right before this past holiday weekend. Within 48 hrs the issues start again, so he brings it back. Its the same cause, mice damage. And they want to charge him for a whole new repair. They claim it’s new damage. We do not live in an area that mine could have gotten in and made that much damage within that time frame. This vehicle is used daily. 80ish in parts and disposal, $675 in labor. Both times How was the inspection done that it could have missed this? Regardless of the negative i could theorize on, it seems illogical to claim new damage. Would not recommend again Edit for their response: I understand that rodent damage can recur in situations. However, my main concern remains the very short timeframe (within 48 hours), the extent of the damage, and how it was determined that this was entirely new damage versus potentially incomplete or previously undetected damage from the initial repair is a huge red flag. Possible but highly unlikely given the circumstances of that time frame of that weekend with this vehicle What is especially concerning is that a second full repair was recommended and priced out so soon after the first visit, despite limited clarity or communication regarding the original inspection, findings, and full scope of the initial issue. Without addressing stated concerns. So quick to refute not prove against our suspicions My friend also called the shop to try to better understand the situation, but did not find the conversation helpful in clarifying the concern at all. Just now mentioning this NAPA warranty, which i looked into and it seems like this would be covered? Also, regardless of who or when at this point, if this shop prided itself on customer service, satisfaction and retention why would they not warn him about the repetition of the situation and how to prevent it. Shameful imo Overall, the experience left me with doubts about the thoroughness of the initial inspection, the consistency of the assessments at each visit following and the shop’s willingness to look into technician faults/accountability. I would not recommend to anyone based on this experience and other testimonies I’ve heard while i looked into this as they do not seem credible

Listen. Good reputable mechanics are hard to find. And I really don't want you all flocking to this place, makes it harder for me to get in. But I would equally feel rotten if I didn't tell the world what a good place this is to take your vehicle. From oil changes to full engine replacements these folks know what they are doing. (Yes, they replaced my engine!). The customer service is wonderful and is not comparable to any other shops in the area that I have found. But I am also not looking. I have found my shop and I am very grateful to have done so. Very satisfied customer Scott S

When i com to Dekalb to visit family, I go to Bockman's if my car needs servicing, whether it's an oil change or something more involved. In January, my car needed a repair to my car. Lee made sure the parts were ready when I brought my car in, and the mechanics made sure all repairs were complete in one day! We were able to leave town when we absolutely needed! Thanks so much for everything!

Bockman's is seriously the best when it comes to car repair. Every single person there is super friendly and helpful, which makes the whole experience way less stressful. They don't just tell you what's wrong with your car; they actually explain it in a way that's easy to understand, even for someone like me who isn't a car expert. And they don't stop there. They also point out any other potential problems that might come up later, which is really helpful for planning and budgeting. Honestly, I really appreciate how much they care about their customers and how they go above and beyond to make sure you're informed and comfortable with the whole process. It's so much better than other places where you feel like just another number. They really take the time to make sure you understand everything, and that's why I'll keep going back to Bockman's.

Cannot recommend Bockman's enough. I went to a shop across town that quoted me almost 5k for repairs on my Fiat. We wanted a second opinion and my mom and boss recommended this shop. They have been so amazing and for half the price. Had an appointment for a Monday. They said I could drop it off the prior Thursday since it's hard to coordinate moving cars around while I work in Rockford. They had an estimate for repairs before noon on that Friday. Repairs were finished by Wednesday, but they discovered a different issue. They were able to resolve it quickly and I had my car back by Thursday night. Sam, Lee, and the other Sam have been SO nice and pleasant to work with. Everyone has been so nice and personable and I can't thank them enough. If you ever need work on your car, GO TO BOCKMANS!

Bockman’s is hands down the best around. I’d previously been to several other mechanics in the area, and Bockman’s friendly professionalism, fair and transparent pricing, and top notch workmanship can’t be beat. Their convenient drop off option, which I’d not experienced before, makes being temporarily car-less much more doable. Sam in particular has been so supportive to my wife and me, as well as the kids whenever they’re waiting in the waiting room. We always feel taken care of. Highly recommend.
